Low-Cost In Vitro Fertilization (IVF)
IVF treatment is considered an accepted alternative in cases of unexplained infertility for women who have not conceived after two years of regular unprotected sexual intercourse. Affordable in vitro fertilization (IVF) may be used to overcome female infertility when there are problems with the fallopian tubes, making fertilization in vivo difficult. If you determine that IVF treatment is the best solution for you, we offer low-cost IVF treatment options.
There are five steps involved in IVF:
- Stimulating the ovaries with medication to produce eggs
- Retrieving eggs from the ovaries
- Obtaining a semen sample and retrieving sperm
- Fertilizing eggs and sperm in a laboratory incubator
- Transferring the embryo(s) to the uterus 3 to 5 days after egg retrieval and fertilization
After several days of development in the incubator, embryos can be tested for specific genetic diseases or chromosomal abnormalities (preimplantation genetic diagnosis). Healthy embryos – those that aren’t affected by a disease or defect – can be transferred to your uterus. If successful, an embryo will implant in the lining of your uterus within days of the transfer.
Intrauterine Insemination (IUI)
When trying to conceive, many women and couples find that intrauterine insemination (IUI) is an effective way to achieve pregnancy when they are faced with certain challenges. There a variety of reasons why intrauterine insemination may be the solution for you.
In some cases, a woman’s immune system may be rejecting her partner’s sperm, or a patient may have issues such as cervical scarring or blockage from endometriosis. IUI is also a common choice when a man has a low sperm count or decreased sperm mobility.
IUI is less invasive and less expensive than IVF. It involves injecting your spouse’s or partner’s sperm into your uterus near the time of ovulation. The goal is to boost the chance of fertilization by increasing the number of sperm in the uterus. This procedure is often combined with fertility drugs to increase your chances of conceiving.
When the procedure is successful, you will conceive and carry a baby to term in a normal manner.
A pregnancy resulting from artificial insemination will be no different from a pregnancy achieved by sexual intercourse. However, there is a slight increased likelihood of multiple births if drugs are used by the woman for a stimulated cycle. In all cases, the woman would be the biological mother of any child produced by artificial insemination, and the male whose sperm is used would be the biological father.
